What Was It?
Fidel Castro (July 26 Movement)
The Cuban Revolution was basically the overthrowing of the Cuban president Carlos Prio
Socarras by Fulgencio Batista in 1952. This caused young Fidel Castro to get angry and motivated him to atemp and over throw Batista's government. However, after many struggles Castro somehow managed to make Batista resign and disappear in 1959. After this Castro gave himself the title of president for life , suspended all elections and killed everyone who was against him. He had now basically become a dicatator in a communist government.
At first the U.S was on Castro's side, but shortly after exposing and embrasing communism, the United States tried to get rid of him with the Bay of Pigs invasion. Many attempts to stop
Fidel failed. After bad involvements and relations, Cuba has kind of excluded itself from the world around it. altough its not considered a threat to the U.S there are still many problems becouse many oppose Castro's dictatorship.
